Liv Sulerud
Massage & Bodywork Therapist
Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
Certified Member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals
From very early in my life, I have known presence and touch to be very powerful tools for healing. As a child and teenager I fed this passion through exploration of the natural world, yoga and spiritual practices. When I first received professional bodywork a few years later, I found it helped foster a deeper awareness of the body-mind-spirit self, and pronounced relief from chronic pain patterns. Bodywork has since continued to be an essential part of my life journey.
My bodywork practice is inspired by my deep passion for helping others, and fed by my own experience of healing and transformation. Mindfulness and body awareness practices
support my bodywork, including yoga, qi gong and meditation. My
experience with whole foods nutrition, organic gardening and
intentional community living also enrich my holistic perspective.
My mission is to create a healing space where each client can connect with their whole self, to bring relief from discomfort that inhibits them from living fully, and to foster awareness of the body’s innate wisdom.
Training & Education
I received my bachelor of arts from St. Olaf College, where my studies focused on spirituality, sustainability and body awareness through movement. My bodywork instruction began at the Heartwood Institute, a unique residential healing arts community in northern California.
I then completed my professional training at CenterPoint School of Massage and Shiatsu in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I received certificates for both therapeutic massage and Craniosacral Therapy. I have since fulfilled the requirements for Bodywork for the Childbearing Year®, an extensive program that prepares me to offer therapeutic techniques that specifically support clients throughout the unique journey of pregnancy. I continue to study and pursue educational opportunities to enrich and inform my practice.
Clientele
I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. My clients include: teachers, parents, students, musicians, artists, therapists, athletes, health care workers, retired individuals and professionals of many kinds. A wide range of income levels are
represented. Most come seeking regular bodywork treatments to maintain
and enhance holistic wellness, as well as for treatment of
specific areas of discomfort. My practice offers a healing and supportive space for all, and I have many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered clients.
When not practicing bodywork I enjoy living as close to Mama Earth as I can in South Minneapolis: gardening, cooking, biking, enjoying music, and spending time with my partner and other loved ones. I love traveling, camping, exploring, and always continuing to learn.
